Women and Water
Women and Water Campaign will host two “Women and Water Listening Sessions” concerning the recent water crisis. A session is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, 432 Shrewsbury St., downstairs conference room. A reception will be held at 6:30 p.m. This meeting is hosted by BMEEK Community Outreach program. A Listening Session is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. April 10 at the Putnam County Courthouse, Winfield. A reception will precede at 6:30 p.m. Both sessions are free. The Women and Water Campaign, a WVFREE project, was developed in response to the Elk River chemical spill when women’s health concerns began to emerge. Alpha Theta chapter of ADK

Teenagers looking for volunteer positions for the summer can contact St. Francis Hospital or Thomas Memorial Hospital’s Department of Volunteer Services for a Summer 2014 VolunTEEN application. The program is open to students ages 14-18. The seven-week program begins when school is out in June and runs through the end of July. Applications will be accepted until April 30. Shums ‘Il Bir Club will sponsor a benefit spaghetti dinner from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at St. George Conference Center Ballroom. Meat and meatless sauces are available. The cost is $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 10 and under. Proceeds will benefit the March of Dimes, 2014 March for Babies. Carry-out is available. For tickets, call 304-342-4697.

Christian women luncheon
Charleston WV Christian Women will meet from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday for a lunch at the Charleston Women’s Club, 1600 Virginia St. E. A “Putting on the Ritz” spring style show will be presented by Talbot’s from the Charleston Town Center. Shirley Ryder of Front Royal, Va., will speak on “Enjoy peace despite the difficulties of life.” Attendees can “put on the Ritz” by wearing black, white or red.
