CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Chaz Davis singled to left field with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring Cameron Green, giving Riverside a 7-6 walk off victory at home over Sherman in high school baseball action Monday night.
In earning the victory, Riverside (5-2) base runners stole nine bases with Green collecting four and Cameron Norris swiping five. Jacob Barnett had three of the six hits for Sherman.
Hurricane 6, Capital 2 —The No. 1 ranked Redskins pounded out 10 hits and were aided by four Cougar errors in earning the road win.
J.T. Rogoszewski, Adam Dunham, and Tate Brock all had two hits each for the Redskins. Seth Roadcap had a pair of hits, including a home run for Capital (3-6).
Cross Lanes Christian 12, Hannan 2 —The Warriors used a five-run fourth inning to pull away from the Wildcats and secure the home victory. Timmy Zuspan struck out seven in picking up the win, while Lee McQuain and Ethan Stepp both doubled and drove in two runs each. For Hannan, Justice Chapman drove in their lone RBI, with the Wildcats’ other run scored by way of error.
In softball action:
Roane County 10-11, Calhoun County 0-0 (doubleheader) — Casey Lassiter allowed no hits in the first game and only two hits in the second to lead the Raiders in a sweep of the doubleheader against the Red Devils. After driving in two runs in the first game for Roane County, Cassidy Taylor hit a grand slam in the first inning of the second.
