Chris Miller, who owns the Dutch Miller car dealership in Barboursville, has bought White Kia Dodge in South Charleston. Officials will be in South Charleston for a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday.
“I believe in the Dodge and Kia product,” Miller said in an interview last month. “I believe we could provide something to the Charleston market that others are not doing now.”
Miller is retaining about 95 percent of White Kia Dodge’s staff. He believes moving into the South Charleston location will be like a “shock of electricity” for South Charleston.
“We always knew Charleston was where we wanted to go,” Miller said.
This will be the first time he sells Dodge and Ram products.
Miller hopes to provide a positive work environment for his sales associates and great shopping experience for customers at Dutch Miller of Charleston.
“It’s the challenge of putting the puzzle together,” Miller said. “We have to be able to put all the people in the right places.”
South Charleston Mayor Frank Mullins said he’s excited to have the new business.
“It’s good that the business is going to continue,” Mullins said. “There are three successful car dealerships in the area and that’s a plus for us.”
Miller hopes to double the dealership’s business after one year, he said.
“If we can grow that business the way we think we can it will be awesome,” Miller said.
The deal is expected to close Friday, Miller said.
He’s committed to making Charleston a second home for Dutch Miller.
In the future, Miller will look to expand even more. So far, he’s looked at three dealerships in West Virginia and some out-of-state.
As closing nears, Miller is “very excited.”
