Edward "Ed" A. Boyd Jr., 65, of Mineral Wells, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 7. He was born May 21, 1948, in Richwood, to the late Edward A. Boyd Sr. and Ruth (Gum) Boyd.
Ed was the park superintendent for the state of West Virginia for 31 years, serving at Babcock, Cedar Creek, Hawks Nest, Kanawha State Forest and North Bend State Parks. After retirement, Ed received his nursing degree and was currently an RN at Minnie Hamilton Hospital. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, NASCAR, the Green Bay Packers and, most of all, his family.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Deborah Boyd; two daughters, Joy Boyd (Chris) of Hico and Kelley Calvert (Paul) of Mineral Wells; two sons, Edward A. Boyd III (Julie) of Canton, Ga., and Jeremy M. Preast (Jessica) of Ansted; 14 grandchildren who were his world; one sister, Barbara Walter (John) of Mansfield, Ohio; two nephews, Clark Cutlip (Deanna) Willowick, Ohio, and Mark Cutlip (Maria) of Leroy, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Saturday, April 12, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Parkersburg. Visitation will be Friday, April 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, and 30 minutes prior to time of service Saturday at the church.
