Lee Alden Raines, born June 22, 1925 in Jackson County, went to his heavenly home to join his wife Marie, on April 11, 2014, at the Hubbard Hospice House following a long struggle with dementia.
During the last couple of years the love and support of his family and daughters helped ease the burden of his illness, especially daughter, Nancy and friend, Janet Pearson, who put their lives on hold to care for him.
The family also thanks the neighbors and other close friends in the Sissonville area for their help, members of Aldergate Church, who helped with food and water during the power outage and the neighbors who helped with home repair and yard work.
Welcoming Lee into heaven were his wife, Marie Stutler Raines; parents, Dallas and Ava Rhodes Raines; brother, Donald E. Raines; and a young sister, baby Lucille.
His family missing him on earth are daughters, Diane Light and husband, Thomas of Kenna and Nancy Raines of Seffner, Fla.; granddaughters, Tonya Gibson and Shelly Stowers; and great-granddaughters, Terra Waller and Leshia Waller, all of the Sissonville area. His passing is also mourned by his sisters, Carol McKemy and husband, Ervil of Kenna and Lorraine Stogdon of Jacksonville, Fla.
Special thanks are expressed to the Hubbard Hospice House and caregiver Kiteny Carson for their loving help and support during Lee's final month. As a tribute to Lee, the family asks that donations to Hubbard House or Aldergate Church in his honor be made in lieu of flowers.
A graveside service honoring the life of Lee Raines will be Monday, April 14, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Fairplain Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Waybright Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Raines family. Online condolences may be sent to www.waybrightfuneralhome.com.
