Talmadge O. Murray, 91, of Lewisburg, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 11, 2014.
Born Sept. 27, 1922, in Highsplint, Ky., he was the son of the late Carl Clifford and Bessie Kidwell Murray.
Mr. Murray was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Marines as an airplane mechanic. In March 1987, he retired from Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, where he worked as the hospital's chief engineer.
A member of Greenbrier Valley Baptist Church, he loved his church family. He loved to garden, hunt and fish, enjoying life to the fullest.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lelia Jessup Murray; a daughter, Karla Y. Murray; grandson, Michael D. Murray; two brothers, Malcolm Murray and Carl C. Murray Jr.; and two sisters, Irene Carter and Kathleen Jessup.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 38 years, Judith Nugen Murray; two daughters, Violet Wilson of Baton Rouge, La., and Rita Trent and husband, Randall, of Crab Orchard; two sons, Timothy Murray and wife, Kathy, of Oak Hill and Carl Murray and wife, Joanna, of Oak Hill; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cleitus Murray and wife, Margaret, and Edward Murray and wife, Blanche; sister, Aileen Foley; plus many nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg, with Pastor Gordon Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Calfee Cemetery, beside Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Beckley.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, and one hour prior to the service Friday at Morgan Funeral Home.
