Firefighters battle Clendenin house blaze

CLENDENIN — No one was injured when an empty house caught fire Friday morning in Clendenin.

Kanawha County Emergency Services Deputy Director C.W. Sigman said a neighbor reported a fire at a residence on Liberty Drive a little before 6 a.m. He said the house was smoking when firefighters got there but was quickly fully involved.

Firefighters from the Pinch, Clendenin and Frame volunteer fire departments responded.

It took more than three hours to extinguish the blaze, a Clendenin firefighter said. No one was inside the home at the time and it is listed for sale. The fire’s cause remains under investigation.
