If you have been planning ahead for prom night dinner plans, there is one restaurant in particular you may want to check out. It would catch anyone’s eye for the beauty in its elegant lighting and fine cultural decorations. Plus, the menu items are reasonably priced, especially for the quantity you get. Also, the staff is very well-mannered, and it takes very little time to get your food thanks to the magnificent chefs!
If you are interested so far and love Asian/Thai food, I highly recommend looking up Su-Tei in Kanawha City.
If you plan to go there for prom, they do take reservations, but Friday may have limited seating. There is also a room that can be reserved for large private parties.
You may want to go to the restaurant ahead of time to see what the seating is like, but any seat you choose will be wonderful and will ensure that you can take in the tranquil surroundings and sounds.
There is a waterfall decoration that provides sounds of cool, flowing water and has beautiful lights underneath it. You will see this as soon as you walk in, making you feel like you have already made the right choice just by the serenity of it all.
The overall lighting brings a very nice touch to the night, providing the perfect atmosphere for a pre-prom dinner. If you would go with a large group, the private room looks amazing. White chairs and a rustic-looking wall and decorations bring out the beauty of an aged look.
Now, while atmosphere is important, the main attraction, of course, is the food. Su-Tei focuses on Thai food, of which there is little in Charleston. However, it also has Japanese, just in case you don’t want to try Thai just yet.
The restaurant has many different plates of sushi and sashimi that are absolutely to die for! I would have to say my favorite so far is the a la carte unagi (eel), octopus and ika (squid). It’s true my taste is different from other people, but I would still say you won’t regret trying some.
Su-Tei has been open since Nov. 15, 2013 and will hopefully grow through the following years. If you are thinking about going, I wouldn’t waste a second calling to reserve for your prom night.
Su-Tei is located at 5711 MacCorkle Ave. SE. It’s open 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday and noon to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; it is closed Sunday.
