GULF SHORES, Ala. — Senior Rachel Thompson shot a 1-over-par 73 to tie for 10th place in the individual field at the 19th annual Conference USA Women’s Golf Championship, Monday, at Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club.
As a team, Marshall carded a 29-over 317 for 13th place in the first round. Tulane topped the leaderboard at 7-under 281, with four of its five players placing in the top 10.
Thompson and Korakot Simsiriwong combined for two of the round’s three eagles, both on the par-5 hole No. 15. The only other player to sink an eagle in the first round was overall leader Fabiola Arriaga of UTSA, also on No. 15. Arriagaleads the field in a three-way tie with Tulane’s Gemma Dryburth and Emily Penttila at 4-under 68.
