Betty Lou Adkins

On April 22, 2014, heaven gained another beautiful angel when Betty Lou Adkins passed away at Dream Home Assisted Living at the age of 85.

Betty was born Aug. 1, 1928, to Tom and Desmond Huffman. She retired from Rose City Cafeterias, where she worked for years as a bookkeeper.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Archie Basil Adkins; her youngest daughter, Susie Adkins-Hall; brothers, Curtis Huffman, Gene Huffman, Ed Huffman and Harold Huffman; and sister, Eloise Howard.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Glaspell and her husband, Jack, of Hurricane, previously of Dunbar; grandchildren, John Glaspell of Dunbar, AJ Hall and his wife, Summer, of Beckley, Stacy Bradley and her husband, Travis, of St. Albans and Kasie Grose and her husband, Mathew, of Charleston; very special grandchildren, Ty Glaspell, Hattie Hall, Sophia Hall, Blake Bradley, Hagen Hall, Mahkai Grose and Shyloh Grose; sisters, Joy Eggers of Lucasville, Ohio, Virginia Clark and her husband, Corvan, of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Betty Jean Clark and her husband, Irvin, of Foster; and brothers, Charles Huffman and his wife, Bonnie, of Foster and Gary Messer and his wife, Delores, of Julian.

A very special thank you to Jonathan and Blessing Eya and staff at Dream Home Assisted Living for the wonderful care they provided for her. Also, a very special appreciation to Tammy Lovejoy and Becky Lilly, who took great care of Betty when she was still living at her home.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor John Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Park.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Friday.
