Third person charged in West Side slaying

By Staff reports

A teenager was arrested Friday in this week’s slaying, also of a teenager, on Charleston’s West Side.

Darrell Emmett “D.J.” Carter Jr., 18, was charged Saturday with first-degree murder in the death of Tymel McKinney, 19, who was shot Wednesday while sitting on his front porch.

Carter is from Charleston, unlike the two people previously charged in the slaying: Mark Anthony Gaddy, 23, and a juvenile who has not been named. Both of them are from Detroit, Charleston police said at a Saturday morning news conference.
