Power starter Dovydas Neverauskas gave up a pair of home runs in a four-run first inning as Hagerstown hammered West Virginia 8-2 Saturday at Appalachian Power Park, extending the Power’s losing streak to six games.
Neverauskas (2-1) was tagged with the loss for the Power (7-14), allowing seven runs (six earned) on 11 hits while walking one and striking out two. Drew Ward paced the Hagerstown offense, going 3 for 4 with a double, home run and driving home a pair of runs. Estarlin Martinez contributed three hits and two RBIs for the Suns (17-5), while Nick Pivetta (3-2) earned the win, allowing one run on three hits over five innings.
No Power player had a multi-hit game or an extra base hit. West Virginia and Hagerstown will conclude their four-game series at 2:05 p.m. today.
