KENNY KEMP | Gazette
Cpl. Richie Basford (right) of the Charleston Police Department’s dive team talks with Detective Tyke Hunt on the banks of the Kanawha River on Sunday afternoon. Basford was looking for a gun that police believe George Sawyer tossed in the river shortly after he allegedly shot Jimmy Beasley, a bouncer at The Cellar on Capitol Street. Sawyer was arrested shortly after the shooting, and a second man, Tasheem Collins, was arrested on Sunday evening, Charleston police said. Beasley, who was shot 12 times and gravely wounded, remained at CAMC General Hospital.
