Inagural MEC softball tournament begins Thursday

SALEM, Va. — Ninth-seeded Glenville State faces No. 8 Concord and No. 5 Urbana battles No. 12 West Liberty at noon on Thursday to kick off the inaugural Mountain East Conference softball tournament at the Moyer Sports Complex.

Eight games highlight Thursday’s action, with Charleston earning the No. 4 seed and facing the winner of the Urbana-West Liberty contest at 5 p.m.

West Virginia State is the No. 7 seed and will take on No. 10 Shepherd at 2:30 p.m. W.Va. Wesleyan is the top seed and faces the winner of Glenville-Concord at 5 p.m. Thursday.

The double-elimination event continues with eight more games on Friday and four on Saturday, including the winner’s bracket championship at 5 p.m.

The championship is set for noon on Sunday with an extra game, if necessary, set for 2 p.m.
