WVU football adds another Pitt transfer
West Virginia’s football team has added another Pitt transfer to its roster, this one a defensive back who will be immediately eligible.
He’s Cullen Christian, who spent three years at Pitt after transferring there following a true freshman season at Michigan in 2010. He was coached for a time at both schools by Tony Gibson, who is now the defensive coordinator at WVU. A 6-foot, 195-pounder from Pittsburgh, Christian has graduated from Pitt and thus will be eligible immediately.
Christian played in 11 games as a freshman cornerback at Michigan before transferring to Pitt. He sat out the 2011 season, played 12 games in 2012 for the Panthers (starting the first two), but then played in just the first two games last season as a backup free safety.
Christian will be the second former Pitt player on next season’s team, joining running back Rushel Shell, who sat out last fall as a transfer.
