Two arrested in Dunbar on drug charges
Two people face drug charges after police were called to a Dunbar hotel.
Dunbar Police Chief Jess Bailes said Patrolman Dave Chandler and Sgt. John Fling went to the Dunbar Plaza hotel at about 7:15 p.m. Monday to investigate reports of people hanging naked out a hotel window. The officers went to a room on the second floor and found several people inside, he said.
While in the room, Bailes said Chandler and Fling saw drug paraphernalia sitting on a table and got permission to search the room. They allegedly then found about one gram of suspected marijuana, 155 hydrocodone tablets, 39 suboxone pills and 28 Xanax tablets, Bailes said.
Officers also allegedly found scales and numerous plastic bags, some of which had price tags with them.
"It was obvious there was intent to deliver the drugs," Bailes said.
Police arrested Earl Finley, 42, of Dunbar, who originally gave officers a fake name, Bailes said. He said Finley is wanted in Detroit on a parole violation.
Finley was charged with being a fugitive from justice and three counts of possession of drugs with intent to deliver, Bailes said. Finley was in the South Central Regional Jail on Tuesday, with bond set at $75,000.
Bailes said Andrea Springstead, 30, of Hurricane, allegedly told officers the marijuana belonged to her. He said Springstead was given a ticket for simple possession.
