HURRICANE, W.Va. — Putnam Farmers’ Market has scheduled a second training date for farmers who want to participate in the Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) this year. Training will be held at 1 p.m. on May 17 at Hurricane City Park.
Training is for the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (WIC and Seniors) Program. Farmers who took this training in 2013 are certified for three years. Farmers who are new to the program must attend a session to participate in the program this market season. Training is again good for three years. These vouchers help seniors and families get fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables.
The training is open to anyone who would like to accept these vouchers. The farmers market opens this Saturday.
