CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Kip Brewer struck out 14 and held Cougar hitters to just two runs as the Wildcats cruised to a 10-2 win in an MSAC placement game.
Jacob Bradley went 2 for 4 with two RBI, while Andrew Stone went 2 for 3 with two doubles.
For Capital, Justin Palmer was 2 for 3 on the day in the loss.
WOODROW WILSON 3, SOUTH CHARLESTON 0 — Senior Josh Rakes threw a complete game and struck out five batters to lead Woodrow Wilson on the road against South Charleston.
Junior Brent Osborne went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, while senior Logan Wriston chipped in with a RBI in the Flying Eagles’ win
As for the Black Eagles (11-10), seven batters also saw success at the plate, each getting one hit. However, five batters struck out in the loss.
HERBERT HOOVER 4, SCOTT 0 – Sophomore Matthew Justice struck out nine and took a perfect game into the fifth inning to lead Herbert Hoover (20-3) to their fifth straight win.
The Huskies’ Shaun Dotson also added a home run and two RBI on a 2 for 4 day at the plate.
Logan Phillips’ double was the lone hit in the loss for the Skyhawks.
