Two Nicholas women arrested in sexual assault investigation
RICHWOOD, W.Va. -- Police in Nicholas County on Wednesday arrested two women in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl.
Alexandria Schmidt, 19, of Richwood, was charged with eight counts of third-degree sexual assault, according to a news release issued by the Nicholas County Sheriff’s Department. Police also arrested the girl’s relative, Julie Ann Smith, 36, of Richwood, who police said knew the alleged sexual assaults were occurring.
Schmidt was being held in Central Regional Jail in lieu of a $40,000 bail and Smith was being held in lieu of a $20,000 bail.
