MARSHALL SOFTBALL: Thundering Herd’s Braxton named second-team All-Conference USA
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A trio of Marshall University softball players were recognized on the All-Conference USA teams, with sophomore Shaelynn Braxton being selected to the second team.
Freshmen Jordan Dixon and former Cabell Midland star Morgan Zerkle claimed spots on the all-freshman team.
Zerkle led the league in stolen bases with 46, including a 19-of-19 performance against league foes.
The Herd will open Conference USA softball tournament as the No. 7 seed and will play at 11 a.m. today against No. 2 UAB.
Today’s action features four games, with the semifinals set for 2 and 4:30 p.m. on Friday and the championship scheduled for noon on Saturday. The championship game will be televised by CBS College Sports.
