Mountaineer Food Bank is teaming up with Feeding America network partners across the country and joining the annual Stamp Out Hunger community food drive being held May 10. The annual food drive is being conducted by the National Association of Letter Carriers. To contribute, collect nonperishable food donations and leave them in a sturdy bag by your mailbox. The letter carrier will collect the donations and deliver them to local food banks and pantries, including Mountaineer Food Bank. SpeakEasy Singles will have its 29th anniversary/reunion dance from 8 p.m. to midnight May 10 in the Wilson Student Union, West Virginia State University. The theme is “Dancin’ Thru the Decades.” DJ will be Randy Damron. Admission is $10 and is open to all singles. Food will be included with admission. Drinks are available for $1. The Alzheimer’s Association, West Virginia Chapter, will host a workshop titled “Know the 10 Signs: What’s Normal, What’s Not” at noon May 12 at the Alzheimer’s Association’s Charleston office, 1601 Second Ave. The workshop will provide attendees with information about the difference between normal aging and Alzheimer’s disease, the benefits of early detection, as well as tips to follow up on any concerns that attendees may have about themselves or someone they care about.
