Chelsey Hager threw a two-hitter as Ripley claimed the Class AAA Region 3 Section 4 title by eliminating Riverside 7-0 Friday in Ripley.
Hager also contributed at the plate with a pair of doubles for the Vikings (19-6). Felicia Burton went 2 for 3 with a double for the Warriors (13-14).
Hurricane 21, Huntington 1: Zach Fitzsimmons allowed just one run on two hits and struck out nine as host Hurricane beat Huntington in five innings. Tyson Edwards had two doubles and five RBIs, and Ace Estep and Sam Basler each drove in two runs for the Redskins (21-5), who pounded out 15 hits. Wilson Ey went 2 for 3 with a double to lead the Highlanders.
Catholic 11, Man 10: Jordan Covelli’s fielder’s choice scored Nick Russo with the winning run as Charleston Catholic picked up a home victory. Russo finished the day 3 for 4 with a double for the Irish (19-9). Braden Griffin added two hits, including a double, and two RBIs for the Hillbillies (14-10).
St. Albans 3, Winfield 0: Peter Theodos hurled a complete-game shutout for the visiting Red Dragons. Theodos also drove in a pair of runs. Brandon Wright, Bryan Bosley and Tate Hancock each doubled for the Generals.
Sissonville 7, Valley 6: Sissonville scored two unearned runs in the top of the eighth inning to edge host Valley. J.R. Stricklen had a double and two RBIs to lead the Indians. Druw Bowen went 2 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Tyler Price and Joe Eckert each drove in a run for the Greyhounds (15-9).
Chapmanville 7, Hoover 6: Brady Cox singled to left in the bottom of the seventh inning to drive in the game-winning run and give host Chapmanville the walk-off victory. Brent Bigley went 2 for 4 with a double and four RBIs, and Austin Ellis, Brock Dalton and William Copley all doubled for the Tigers (24-5). Hunter White went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and Cody Bowen added two hits for the Huskies (23-4).
Logan 4, GW 3: Chase Burnette drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th to score Trace Butcher and give the win to the host Wildcats (19-8). Zach Minnick (2 for 4) drove in two for Logan. For George Washington (16-11), John Thomas was 5 for 6 and Austin Griffith and Grant Wooten each had three hits.
Ripley 3, Point Pleasant 2: Easton Berry allowed just two hits and struck out eight in 5 2/3 shutout innings as visiting Ripley slipped past Point Pleasant.
Johnny Stepp went 2 for 3 with an RBI and Chris Jordan added two hits for the Vikings. Levi Russell led the Big Blacks, going 1 for 3 with an RBI.
