Garrett Scott ended his college career as a Military Bowl champion. He’ll begin his NFL career with the defending Super Bowl champions.
Scott, Marshall’s 2013 all-Conference USA second team pick at offensive tackle, was taken Saturday with the 23rd pick of the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. He was the 199th overall selection.
Scott, standing 6-foot-4 and 289 pounds, started at both left and right tackle last season for the Thundering Herd. With him on the line, Marshall averaged a C-USA-best 42.1 points and 500.4 yards per game. The Seahawks, who beat the Denver Broncos 43-8 in Super Bowl XLVIII, was 18th in the NFL in total offense with 339.0 yards per game.
Marshall, which went 10-4 last season with that Military Bowl win, had one player drafted in 2013, when wide receiver Aaron Dobson was taken in the second round by the New England Patriots.
