The Regional Education Service Agency 3 and Kanawha County Adult Basic Education will have their annual GED/TASC Adult Education Graduation ceremonies at 7 p.m. on May 22 in the Capital High School Auditorium. Anyone who has earned their GED from May 8, 2013 through Dec. 31, 2013 and anyone who has successfully passed the new TASC exam during 2014 is invited to participate. Keynote speaker for this year’s ceremony will be Debra Kimbler, Assistant Director, Office of Adult Education and Workforce Development for West Virginia.
Dr. Jo Harris, President, BridgeValley Community and Technical College, will be presenting scholarships to BridgeValley Community and Technical College to two GED/TASC graduates. Sharon Deal, the first recipient of this scholarship will be sharing with our graduates the opportunities she’s been afforded since receiving her GED three years ago and graduating from BridgeValley Community and Technical College this year. Other speakers will include students who have passed either their GED or TASC test. Special recognition will be given to those who received the highest score on the GED/TASC test during the past year and, also, veterans who have been awarded their diplomas from the high schools they attended before leaving school to serve in the armed forces during a time of conflict.
