Firefighters hosed down the remains of a mobile home destroyed by fire in Institute Monday afternoon. Institute firefighters found the mobile home off of Finney Road fully engulfed and spreading to the woods when they arrived, said C.W. Sigman, Kanawha County Fire Coordinator. Small explosions could be heard inside the mobile home, and firefighters believed the sounds were from ammunition and small oxygen cylinders. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire, though the home was a total loss. Sigman said the man who lived inside wasn’t home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
