The Black Eagles Basketball Camp, as always, has a few special things lined up for its June 9-13 stay at the South Charleston Community Center.
The fifth annual camp, under the direction of SC boys basketball coach Vic Herbert, runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily and is open to boys and girls entering grades 2 through 8 this fall. Also, students starting the ninth grade next fall at one of SC’s two feeder schools (SC Middle, Dunbar Middle) are eligible.
The camp will again feature appearances from guests of special interest to state and Kanawha Valley fans. Among those scheduled to serve as camp coaches are West Virginia University guard Juwan Staten, WVU recruit Jonathan Holton and Pierria’ Henry, the former SC all-stater who now starts at point guard for Charlotte.
Others set to work the camp are current SC assistants Sean Knapper, Dusty Herscher and Chad Metten, as well as Pete Cosby and Wayne Casey, along with former SC players Hunter Moles and Devyn Harris.
The cost of the camp is $115, and campers can be dropped off as early as 8 a.m. and picked up as late as 4 p.m. daily. Space is limited, so players or their families are urged to register soon.
To register, contact Herbert at 304-421-6830 or the SC Community Center at 304-744-4731. Brochures are available at the front desk of the SC Community Center and the Dunbar Recreation Center.
