Charleston Town Center is looking for talented teen artists for its annual FestivALL art show/competition. Newly dubbed “FestivALL’s Quest for Xtreme Teen Artists,” the event is open to Kanawha, Putnam and Clay County artists ages 13-23.
Students may submit work on their own or teachers can enter their students’ work. A confirmation of participation is required by June 6. Contact mall marketing coordinator Olivia Smolder at 304-345-9526 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Submissions must then be delivered to the mall management office on the third floor between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. June 9-11.
All media are accepted, as long as the work is not copyrighted. Pieces should be no taller or wider than three feet and must not weigh more than six pounds. Any work for wall display should be matted and/or framed. The mall reserves the right not to exhibit all submitted works.
If the artists wish, they may list their work for sale by marking it with their desired price. If a piece is not for sale, it must be marked NFS.
The art will be judged by a panel of professional West Virginia artists representing the mediums of painting, drawing, photography, graphic art, sculptures and textiles. Judging takes place June 19.
Prizes include a $500 purchase award and multiple mall gift cards. Best in Show receives a $300 gift card as well as a private half-hour art chat with the judge representing the artist’s medium. Three $100 gift cards will be given in school categories, and the crowd favorite receives a $50 gift card. Any teacher responsible for submitting a work that wins an award will get a $50 mall gift card.
The artwork will be displayed in Center Court June 19-23. Get an entry form or more information at www.charlestontowncenter.com.
