W.Va. man injured in experimental aircraft crash

MILLWOOD, W.Va. – Police say a pilot suffered nonlife threatening injuries when an experimental aircraft crashed in Jackson County.

Jackson County Sheriff Tony Boggs says Charles Hicks of Waverly was flying a Harmening High Flyer Powered Parachute when a portion of the parachute malfunctioned.

Boggs says the aircraft couldn’t remain aloft and descended rapidly to the ground.

The crash occurred Sunday night at the Jackson County Airport in Millwood.

Hicks was taken to a Parkersburg hospital.
