Name released in fatal golf cart wreck

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Kanawha County sheriff's deputies have identified a woman killed in a golf cart accident on Sunday.

Cpl. Brian Humphreys of the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department said the body of Claudia L. Workman, 77, of Alum Creek was discovered about 9 p.m. Sunday on property she owned with her husband.

Workman had apparently been driving a golf cart along a gravel road when she lost control and went over an embankment, Humphreys said. He said Workman was thrown from the golf cart, which landed on top of her.

Workman apparently died of her injuries, Humphreys said. Staff with the state medical examiner's office are investigating.
