Two hurt in Roane County oil drum explosion

GANDEEVILLE, W.Va. -- One man and a teenage boy were injured when an oil drum the man was cutting into exploded near Gandeeville in Roane County.

A Roane County 911 dispatcher said a 24-year-old male was cutting into an empty 155-gallon oil storage drum at a little after 2 p.m. Tuesday when the drum exploded. The 24-year-old victim was flown by helicopter to Cabell Huntington Hospital where the dispatcher said he was in critical condition.

A 16-year-old male was also burned, the dispatcher said.

He was transported to Roane County General with non-life threatening injuries.

The victims names are known but not being released at this time.
