Weather service confirms tornado in Martinsburg

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down near downtown Martinsburg this week.

The weather service says the EF1 tornado touched down around 8:41 p.m. Sunday and traveled about 1 mile. It lifted a section of a front porch roof off one house and caused two trees to fall on another house.

The tornado also snapped or damaged dozens of trees on the grounds of the historic Boydville estate.
