Betty Mollohan Knowlton, 81, of Cross Lanes, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, at home.
She grew up in Nitro and worked at Monsanto. She met her husband, Leo, while he was working at Temple Drug Store in Nitro. In 1954 she married Leo Knowlton and they had 59-and-a-half wonderful years dancing, cruising and enjoying each other. She belonged to the First Baptist Church of Nitro, having served on several boards and circles.
In addition to her husband, she leaves behind her cousins, Jim and Linda Millman of Winchester, Va., and Bill and Juda Millman of Mechancisville, Md.
A celebration of Betty's life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Cooke Funeral Home Chapel, 2002 20th St., Nitro, with Pastor David Bess and Pastor Lawrence Hoptry officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
