National Elks revokes Clarksburg lodge’s charter
CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — The national Elks organization has revoked the 115-year-old Clarksburg lodge’s charter.
Elks Grand Lodge Advisory Committee chairman Arthur Frost tells The Exponent Telegram that the Elks Lodge No. 482 failed to comply with the national organization’s rules and regulations.
Front says the lodge’s officers and committees weren’t fulfilling their duties. He says the lodge also didn’t properly keep financial records.
Frost says the national organization worked with the lodge for several years to bring it into compliance. He says the lodge’s leaders refused to comply.
The lodge’s secretary, Jerry French, referred questions to the national organization.
The lodge had about 400 members.
Frost said the lodge has five years to reconstitute.
