The company formed by the merger of Charleston-based McJunkin Corp. will hold a job fair in Charleston this weekend.
MRC Global Inc. will host a career jobs fair at its office on Hillcrest Drive on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The company wants to fill 30 new positions.
A Fortune 500 company today, MRC Global began in Charleston as the McJunkin Corporation back in 1921.
“The addition of approximately 30 jobs to our corporate office demonstrates our continued commitment to Charleston. We are looking forward to adding more skilled employees to our team in Charleston,” Andrew Lane, president of MRC Global, said in a news release.
On Nov. 1, 2007, McJunkin Corporation and Delaware-based Red Man Pipe & Supply Co. merged to form MRC Global.
Headquartered in Houston, Texas, MRC Global is the largest global distributor of pipes, valves, fittings and related products and services for the energy industry, according to the company. MRC Global operates from more than 400 locations and sells products in more than 45 countries, according to its website.
The growing energy and hydraulic fracking industries in West Virginia and Ohio are helping to create new markets for MRC Global’s products. Fracking pushes pressurized liquids and chemicals deep into the groups to create small fractures inside rock formations. Those fractures then make it possible to extract natural gas and petroleum from deep underground reserves.
The jobs that will be available at the MRC Global jobs fair include invoice auditor, credit analyst, warehouse associate, truck fleet administrator, corporate purchasing and a compliance coordinator for state and federal Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
Before attending the jobs fair, people are encouraged to complete an online employment profile at www.mrcglobal.com/careers
