LEWISBURG, W.Va. — Greenbrier and Pocahontas counties will soon have a new circuit judge.

Officials said Monday that attorney Robert E. Richardson will be sworn in July 1 as a judge in the 11th Judicial Circuit.

Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin appointed Richardson May 20 following the retirement of Joseph C. Pomponio Jr.

Richardson is a graduate of West Virginia University and the University of Virginia School of Law. He was an adjunct faculty member of the Georgetown University Law Center and WVU College of Law.

He also served as managing attorney of a regional office of the West Virginia Legal Services Plan, the predecessor to Legal Aid of West Virginia.
