Lola Harris Fridley, 94, of Nitro, passed away Monday, June 23, 2014, at Genesis Dunbar Care Center.
She was a member of Hometown Apostolic Church, where she was one of the original trustees of the church and "Devoted her life working for the Lord."
She was born April 24, 1920, in Putnam County to the late Walter and Mae Harris. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Macie McDade, and brothers, Othal, Ernest, Basil and O.D. Harris.
Lola is survived by her loving family: son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd and Susie Fridley of Scott Depot; daughters and son-in-law, Janice and Arnold "T.J." Johnson of Charleston and Sharon Fridley of Nitro; grandchildren, Ramonda, Dawn and Diana; great-grandchildren, Kayley and Sheridan; and great-great-grandchildren, Lexton, Landan and Braylan. Also surviving are her sisters, Eva Keogh, Jean Burdette, Dola Stone and Florence Selbe, and brothers, Walter "Bud," Arnie and Kenneth Harris.
A celebration of Lola's life will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 26, at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans, with Pastor William Carter and Bishop Edwin Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service.
The family gives a special thanks to Dr. Chris Bowman and staff at Dunbar Medical Associates, Teays Valley Office and the staff for the years of exceptional care provided to our mother. Also, the staff nurses, aides and physical therapist at Genesis Dunbar Care Center and Hospice staff and nurses.
