WINFIELD — A man Monday told a 13-year-old boy in Winfield that he was under arrest, then frisked and photographed the boy before driving off.
The teenager was walking along Winfield Road near Leslie Lumber when a man in a black car approached him, according to a press release from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department.
The man didn’t identify himself as an officer, the release states, and nothing about the car or his clothing suggested he was one.
Nevertheless, the man said the teen was under arrest and gave him a pat-down search.
The release says the teen was neither assaulted nor harmed.
The man is described as white, about 6 feet 3 inches tall and 200 pounds, with slicked-back black hair, blue eyes, a scar under his right eye and a goatee-type beard.
He was in all-black clothes and driving a black car.
The sheriff’s department said this was the first report of such activity and the agency has no leads.
