Man punched, bag stolen on West Side; juvenile arrested
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A juvenile punched and robbed a man late Thursday night on Charleston’s West Side, according to police.
Lt. Aaron James said officers charged a suspect with first-degree robbery in connection with the incident, which occurred around 11:40 p.m. near 205 Tennessee Ave. The suspect was transported to the James H. “Tiger” Morton Juvenile Center, and James didn’t know whether he had been released.
A police report didn’t specify where or how many times the victim, whom James declined to name, was hit. The report didn’t indicate the man needed medical attention.
The suspect allegedly stole a backpack. Police found him with the backpack and a group of other juveniles around a fire on Magic Island under Interstate 64.
