Lois June Shamblin (Haye), 78, formerly of Kenna, died July 1, 2014, in Catawba, Va., after a long illness. Born June 29, 1936, in Fayetteville. She was a graduate of Clendenin High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Shamblin; her daughter, Melissa Sinkora of Ripley; her parents, Albert and Claudia Haye of Kenna; her sister, Ernestine Lawrence of Kenna; and her brother, Neil Haye of Charleston.
She is survived by her two daughters, Angela Melton of Hickory, N.C., and Tamera Hagy of Palestine, W.Va.; eight grandchildren, Jason Sayre of Ripley, David Melton of Hickory, N.C., Scott Melton of Charleston, Allyson Elkins of Ripley, Lisa Lutz of Ashville, Va., Dustin Hagy of Ripley, Clark Hagy of Columbus, Ohio, and Frank Sinkora III of Ripley; and her brother, William Lee Haye of Bastian, Va. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and a host of many other family and friends.
Lois embodied the West Virginia spirit and there was no place that she loved more than West Virginia. She cherished her family, loved gardening and fishing.
A celebration of Lois' life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Grass Lick Baptist Church, Grass Lick, with Patrick Haye, nephew of Lois Shamblin, officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
