Man arrested for attacking reporter

West Virginia State Police have arrested a man after he allegedly attacked a veteran news reporter with the man’s camera tripod.

Howard Jeffery Lilly, 54, of Glen, is charged with felony destruction of property, grand larceny and malicious wounding, Lt. Michael Baylous, a spokesman for the State Police, said.

Bob Aaron, a reporter for WCHS Eye Witness News, was following up on an allegedly animal abuse story in Clay County when Lilly took his tripod and struck him in the arm and leg, Baylous said.

The man also struck Aaron’s camera, he said.

Aaron was taken to a hospital as a precaution, but is doing well, according to a report from the news station.
