Lucas re-elected to lead W.Va. GOP

By Staff reports

Conrad Lucas has been re-elected as the chairman of the West Virginia Republican Party.

The party’s executive committee unanimously chose Lucas for a four-year term at its summer meeting in Huntington on Saturday, a news release said.

“It’s a privilege and honor to have the trust and vote of Republican leaders from around this great state,” Lucas said in the release. “We have built a team and operation who will build upon our successes in 2012, giving West Virginia Republicans an unprecedented night this November.

Lucas was first chosen as party chairman in 2012, taking over after the previous chairman resigned in the middle of his term. At the time, he was the youngest state party chairman in the country.

Lucas, an attorney, has previously been an aide to Rep. Shelley Moore Capito and a consultant for Huron Consulting Group.

He holds degrees from Vanderbilt, Harvard and Tulane.
