James F. Bell

James F. Bell, 74, of Hurricane, passed away July 11, 2014, after a long, hard-fought battle with COPD.

James was born and raised in Boone County, where he developed an immense love of wildlife, nature and all things West Virginia. James was a proud Democrat. He loved politics, watching wildlife in his beautiful backyard where he lived for nearly 38 years and traveling.

He was retired from the state of West Virginia with over 20 years of service. He was a former business owner, starting Hurricane Trophy out of his home and growing into a thriving business that is still operating today. He was very active in the community and his children's education. More than anything, James loved family, most of all his wife of 46 years and his three children.

James was preceded in death by his mother, Lora Ellis Bell; father, Earl B. Bell; brothers, Earl W. Bell and Robert Bell; nephew, Max Ball; and mother-in-law, Esther Mounts.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Bell; daughters, Michele J. Bell of Charlotte, N.C., and Marsha J. Bell of Charlotte, N.C.; son, Michael J. Bell and wife, Nicolette, of Scott Depot; sister-in-law, Jean Mounts; brothers, Brady Bell and wife, Garnett, of Chesapeake and Lonnie Bell and wife, Colleen, of St. Albans; sisters, June Ball of Hurricane, Betty Browning of Homosassa, Fla., Bonnie Bowles of Scott Depot and Loretta Hamon of Gallipolis, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Virginia Hoover of Parkersburg and Elsie Hunter of Cleveland, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Lung Association, 2102 Kanawha Blvd. E., Charleston, WV 25311, in memory of James F. Bell, would be appreciated.
