Roberta E. "Bertie" Smith O'Dell, 87, of Quick, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at Hubbard Hospice House after a long illness. She was a homemaker, great cook, loved gardening and the work of farm life. She was the devoted wife for 67 years of her pastor and founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Charleston, whom she served so faithful.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Alvin C. (Duno) O'Dell, on March 22, 2014; parents, Edwin and Ostisha Smith; six brothers and one sister.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Darrell O'Dell of Charleston; daughters, Dottie (Danny) Anderson of Marmet, Sharon (Raul) Olivares of Charleston and Linda (Greg) Means of Rock Hill, S.C.; nine grandchildren; 20-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, church family and children to whom she was simply "Mamaw".
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Curtis Parkway, Charleston, WV 25311.
Special thanks to Kim and the Hospice Staff and caregivers who provided love and comfort so faithful.
Graveside Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 19 at O'Dell Cemetery, Dutch Ridge, WV with the Rev Gary Johnson officiating. Online condolences may be shared at www.haferfuneralhome.net.
