Iliene Stephens, 81, surrounded by her loving family, peacefully left this world to be at home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, July 17, 2014.
Born the only child of the late Isaiah and Mary Kinser on September 19, 1932, Iliene was reared in the coal camps of Hughes Creek. As a young adult, she worked as a secretary for the WV State Police and later as a cook for the Kanawha County School Board. Yet, her true life was lived on Campbells Creek as a loving, dedicated and sacrificing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Christian and life-long member of Fairhaven Baptist Church. No truer statement can be made than that she viewed and practiced her life as one of passionate service to her family, friends and church. Iliene is and will be missed by all.
Iliene was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Stephens. She is survived by her children, Cathy (Dan) Brown, Michael (Paige) Stephens, Mark (Debbie) Stephens and Matthew (Deanna) Stephens; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 21, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden with Pastor Jack Tucker officiating. The burial will follow the service in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Family and friends will gather for the visitation on Monday at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until time of service.
