Water main break lifts road in South Charleston

By Staff reports
A water main break in South Charleston shut down a road for several hours Tuesday evening.

The water shooting up under the ground lifted part of the road between Irving and Chestnut streets about a foot and a half, according to South Charleston Police Cpl. J.F. Amburgey.

The water main break happened around 3 p.m. and the road was still shut down late Tuesday.

West Virginia American Water and the city street crew were working on repairs.
