Chaos notches first playoff win

The West Virginia Chaos earned its first playoff win, shutting out the Seacoast United Phantoms 2-0 in the United Soccer League’s Premier Developmental League Eastern Conference semifinals Saturday in New Jersey.

The Chaos scored the first goal in the 28th minute when Dan Smee scored on an assist from Daniel Stratford. Adam Hintz assisted on West Virginia’s second goal, setting up Jake Szabo in the 73rd minute to seal the victory.

Chaos keeper Sean Teepen recorded one save on the evening as West Virginia outshot the Phantoms 9-5.

The Chaos takes on the Jersey Express, who beat the CFE Azul 2-0 in their semifinal matchup, at 5 p.m. today at the New Jersey Institute of Technology Field.

The winner of today’s match will head to the Final Four of the PDL playoffs.
