A Pennsylvania couple could face charges after witnesses reported seeing a woman walking a naked man on a leash in Ohio County.
Ohio sheriff’s deputies were called at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday to the area of U.S. 40 and Dallas Pike, which is northeast of Wheeling near Triadelphia, to investigate witness reports of a woman walking a naked man on a leash, Ohio Sheriff Pat Butler said.
The witness told deputies the woman was wearing a nightgown.
Butler said the man, who was walking on his hands and knees, was bound at the feet and ankles and also wore a hood over his head. The sheriff said the man also had an “object in his butt.” Butler said he did not know what the object was.
Deputies initially went to a home along Roney’s Point Road looking for information. A woman there claimed not to know what deputies were talking about and sent them away.
Another witness sent deputies back to the home where the woman admitted she was the one in the nightgown.
Both she and the man were dressed when deputies arrived to speak to them, Butler said. The couple’s names were not being released Wednesday but both are from Washington, Pa., and were visiting friends in Ohio County, West Virginia. The sheriff said the man is 56 and the woman is 53.
“Well, at first she was offended because the passerby called her a freak,” Butler said. “They were both willing participants.
“She said it was a sex game and she meant no harm.”
The sheriff said it was a strange situation. Neither person has been charged in the incident.
Butler said deputies have forwarded information to the Ohio County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office to determine whether charges should be filed.
An employee at Ohio Prosecutor Scott Smith’s office said the prosecutor did not have enough information about the incident to comment Wednesday.
Butler said he expected the prosecutor would have a decision by Monday.
