CRUMPLER — A McDowell County man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly using the Internet to solicit sexually explicit photographs and videos from numerous young girls throughout the country, West Virginia State Police said.
George Allan Truhlar, Jr., 22, of Crumpler, was arrested in Virginia on charges of indecent liberties, encouraging illicit behavior and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to Sgt. M.D. Clemons of the State Police Crimes Against Children Unit.
More charges may be forthcoming, as Truhlar allegedly solicited girls in McDowell and Mercer counties, and Modesto, California, according to Clemons.
“I would say he’s got them all over,” she said.
Truhlar, who is unemployed, spent his time meeting underage girls on the Internet through Facebook and Tinychat and entering into what the girls felt were online relationships with him, Clemons said.
“He was on the Internet all day long and all night,” she said. “That’s what he did.”
Some girls may have been afraid to come forward, according to Clemons.
“If they would quit sending the pictures, he would threaten to make the pictures public,” Clemons said. “I’d say there’s more that had contact with him.”
Truhlar was being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail on Thursday awaiting extradition to Virginia.
