Ranson City Hall to get lightning rod after strike

By The Associated Press

RANSON, W.Va. – Ranson officials plan to install a lightning rod on City Hall following a July strike that caused about $20,000 in damage.

City manager Andy Blake tells The Journal that a surge protector also will be installed.

The city had to replace all telephone, alarm and computer systems in the building after lightning hit the steeple on July 15. The strike disabled all communication lines in the building.

No one was injured.
