The West Virginia Power rode a four-run sixth inning to pick up a 5-2 win over the Hagerstown Suns Monday evening at Appalachian Power Park.
After he Suns got on the board first in the fourth inning with a solo home run from Spencer Kieboom, West Virginia answered in the bottom half of the inning when an error brought Austin Meadows home. The Power exploded in the sixth inning with four runs as JaCoby Jones singled home Chris Diaz, Reese McGuire singled home another pair with the bases loaded and Erich Weiss added a run-scoring single.
Buddy Borden (6-7) earned the win, tossing seven innings, allowing just one run on two hits with four strikeouts. Andrew Cooper (7-4) was charged with the loss.
West Virginia hosts again at 7 tonight. Dovydas Neverauskas will take the hill for the Power against the Suns’ Lucas Giolito.
